Mauro Bedoni

Mauro Bedoni è nato in Italia nel 1979 e si è laureato nel 2016 all’università di Padova in Scienze della Comunicazione con una tesi in fotogiornalismo. Dopo aver lavorato come fotografo, nel 2007 ha iniziato a lavorare come photo editor per la rivista COLORS per la quale ha assegnato più di 150 fotografi in più di 60 paesi nel mondo. Nel 2015 ha lavorato a New York come photo editor freelance per la rivista TIME 100 e poi come consulente creativo e responsabile della produzione per il primo numero di una nuova rivista, parte della strategia del marketing dei contenuti di Shinola.
Da gennaio 2017 ricopre il ruolo di Programme Manager presso il centro d’arte QUAD a Derby (UK), l’organizzatore del festival di fotografia internazionale FORMAT. Durante la sua carriera, ha svolto numerose letture di portfolio in festival internazionali ed è stato giudice per prestigiosi premi fotografici. Nel 2011 è stato nominato come photo editor dell’anno ai Lucie Awards negli USA. Nel 2015 ha curato una mostra di fotografi di Fabrica, il centro di ricerca sulla comunicazione di Benetton, al Łodz Fotofestiwal e la mostra collettiva Afterlife all'Athens Photo Festival. Attualmente vive e lavora principalmente in Inghilterra e Germania.
Mauro è particolarmente interessato a incontrare fotografi documentaristi che utilizzano diversi generi fotografici con approcci originali, anche e preferibilmente sperimentali, allo storytelling. Le letture possono essere svolte in italiano, francese, spagnolo e inglese.
Mauro Bedoni was born in Italy in 1979 and graduated from the University of Padua with a degree thesis on Photojournalism. After working for two years as a photographer, in 2007 he started working as the photo editor of COLORS Magazine and assigned more than 150 photographers in 60+ countries. In 2015, he moved to New York and worked as a freelance photo editor on the 2016 TIME 100 issue and then as a creative consultant and production editor, for Shinola, on the first issue of a new magazine, part of the content marketing strategy of the company. He is now Programme Manager at QUAD Derby, the organiser of Format Photography Festival. He has served as a portfolio reviewer and juror in several international photo festivals and photography awards and grants and he's been nominated for picture editor of the year at the Lucie Awards 2011. As a curator, in 2015 he pulled together two group shows: the Fabrica exhibition at the Łodz Fotofestiwal and the Afterlife exhibition at the Athens Photo Festival. He's now based between Uk and Germany.
Mauro is interested in meeting documentary photographers working with different genres and original approaches and styles of photography, preferably experimenting new ways of storytelling. Mauro Bedoni can review in Italian, French, Spanish and English.
