Alexander è un progetto documentaristico che si basa sulla relazione tra storia, miti e cultura pop, e sui tentativi di mescolare tutto ciò nella costruzione dell’identità nazionale. Il lavoro, che inizialmente voleva esplorare il desiderio di riconoscimento e l’orgoglio di una nazione relativamente giovane, fa sorgere ulteriori domande sulla creazione di miti moderni negli stati nazionali e i tentativi di re-interpretare la storia in contesti globali.
Michał Siarek (1991, Polonia) è un fotografo documentarista e studente di cinematografia a Lodz, in Polonia.
“Alexander” is a documentary work based upon the relationship between history, myths and pop culture, and the attempts of mixing it all up in the construction of the national identity.
Essay initially focused on exploring longing for recognition and pride in a relatively young nation raises further questions - about structure of modern myths in national states and attempts on reinterpreting the history in global contexts.
