La serie Composition mostra una visione realistica del corpo umano. Col suo approccio, Milan si concentra sulle tracce fisiche e mentali che la vita lascia sui nostri corpi. La domanda centrale è: fino a che punto è possibile vedere le esperienze traumatiche riflesse nella maniera in cui uno appare o si muove. Per questo progetto, Milan Gies ha stretto un rapporto a lungo termine con alcuni uomini senzatetto di Amsterdam e dintorni, che ha poi fotografato nel suo studio.
Milan Gies (1977) è un fotografo, vive e lavora ad Amsterdam. Si è diplomato alla Photoacademie nel 2009 ed è stato insegnante in diverse scuole d’arte, prima di fondare la sua piccola accademia, Studio 307, dove insegna e forma fotografi professionisti. Molte delle sue serie fotografiche sono state esposte in tutto il mondo e pubblicate su importanti riviste e giornali, sia nei Paesi Bassi che in altri paesi.
The series “Composition” shows a realistic view of the human body. In his approach, Milan focuses on the physical and mental traces that life leaves on our bodies. The central question is: to what extent can you see traumatic experiences reflected in the way someone looks or moves. For this project, he has built up a long-term relationship with homeless men in and around Amsterdam, whom he later photographed in his studio.
Milan Gies (1977) is a photographer, working and living in Amsterdam. He graduated from the Photoacademie in 2009 and was a teacher at several art schools, before founding his own small academy, Studio 307, where he teaches and coaches professional photographers. Several of his photography series were displayed in exhibitions all over the world and published in prominent magazines and newspapers, both in the Netherlands and other countries.
