PhEST Pop-Up Open Call - ESSERE UMANI
PhEST, festival internazionale di fotografia e arte a Monopoli, Italia, lancia la terza edizione del contest internazionale, sul tema dell’edizione 2023 del festival: ESSERE UMANI. Insieme a LensCulture abbiamo organizzato una open call pop-up, gratuita e veloce, aperta a tutti ma per due sole settimane.
Dopo un’edizione 2022 dedicata al Futuro, quest’anno PhEST si concentra sull’essere umano provando a interrogarsi sull’uomo e su cosa voglia effettivamente dire oggi essere umani.
Comunità, famiglia e consapevolezza personale e globale, insieme a tecnologia, migrazione. Esplorando le fasi dell’esistenza, stili di vita, emozioni, credenze e passioni, avvicineremo tutti i grandi temi contemporanei.
Essere umani, cosa vuol dire? Negli ultimi anni un vasto campo che credevamo centrale ed esclusivo dell’uomo è andato riducendosi.
Oggi anche la profezia di intelligenze artificiali sempre più performanti, umanoidi ed empatiche, si avvera ad una velocità impressionante. L’esclusività, il primato dell’uomo si riduce. L’opera d’ingegno, il genio creativo non è detto che appartenga più solo a noi, una rivoluzione è alle porte.
Viene da chiedersi allora, cos’è che ci rende davvero così speciali? Questo nocciolo che si riduce ci porta a scoprire davvero la nostra essenza?
Condividi con noi il tuo progetto visuale che esplora quello che significa per te ESSERE UMANI. Cerchiamo lavori che siano intensi, intimi e profondi. Accettiamo ogni linguaggio, tutti i media, immagini fisse o in movimento, dalla fotografia all’illustrazione, al collage, all’animazione. Sorprendici!

PhEST è il festival internazionale di fotografia e arte a Monopoli, Italia. PhEST è prodotto e promosso dall’associazione culturale PhEST, con il sostegno della Regione Puglia e del Comune di Monopoli. PhEST è nato nel 2016 a Monopoli in Puglia da un’idea di Giovanni Troilo, direttore artistico del festival, e di Arianna Rinaldo, cui è affidata la curatela fotografica. Con la direzione organizzativa di Cinzia Negherbon. PhEST è fotografia, cinema, musica, arte, contaminazioni dal Mediterraneo. Un modo per restituire voce propria alle mille identità che compongono il mare in mezzo alle terre, ridefinendo un nuovo immaginario.

PhEST Pop-Up Open Call - BEING HUMAN
For the third year, PhEST launches its international Pop-Up Open Call connected the theme of the 2023 edition, BEING HUMAN. The open call, organised together with LensCulture is free and open to all, but fast: you have only 2 weeks to surprise us with your creative work.
After the 2022 edition dedicated to the Future, this year PhEST focuses on the human being, trying to question itself about man and what it actually means to be human today.
Community, family, personal and global awareness, together with technology and migration. By exploring the phases of existence, lifestyles, emotions, beliefs and passions, we will approach all the great contemporary themes.
What does it mean to be human? In recent years, a vast field that we believed to be central and exclusive to human has been shrinking.
Today, even the prophecy of increasingly performant, humanoid and empathic artificial intelligences is coming true at an impressive speed. The exclusivity and the primacy of humans are reduced. The work of ingenuity, the creative genius does not necessarily belong to us anymore, a revolution is upon us.
It makes us wonder: what really makes us so special? Does this core that is reduced lead us to truly discover our essence?
With this Pop-Up Open Call, PhEST is looking for image based art exploring all aspects of humanity. We expect works that are intense, intimate, profound. We welcome all media: still and moving, collage, illustration, photography and animation. Surprise us!

PhEST is the international photography and art festival in Monopoli, Italy. PhEST is produced and promoted by the PhEST cultural association, with the support of the Puglia Region and the Municipality of Monopoli. PhEST was born in 2016 in Monopoli in Puglia from an idea of Giovanni Troilo, artistic director of the festival, and Arianna Rinaldo, who is in charge of the photographic curatorship. With the organizational direction of Cinzia Negherbon. PhEST is photography, cinema, music, art, contaminations from the Mediterranean. A way to give back their own voice to the thousand identities that make up the sea in the middle of the lands, redefining a new imaginary.
