Edwin Lai – As It Should Be
Durante la cena di ritrovo per il Capodanno lunare, una giovane donna tornata dall’estero fatica a ristabilire un legame con la propria famiglia, portando con sé una verità che non è ancora pronta a rivelare.
Edwin Lai è un regista di Hong Kong. Il suo lavoro esplora le dinamiche familiari, l’identità e le relazioni intergenerazionali attraverso uno sguardo intimo e misurato. Il cortometraggio As It Should Be racconta il ritorno di una giovane donna a Hong Kong per il Capodanno Lunare, affrontando con sensibilità i temi dell'accettazione e dei legami familiari.
During a Lunar New Year reunion dinner, a young woman returning home from overseas struggles to reconnect with her family while carrying a truth she is not yet ready to share.
Edwin Lai is a filmmaker from Hong Kong. His work explores family dynamics, identity, and intergenerational relationships through an intimate and understated visual language. His short film “As It Should Be” follows a young woman returning to Hong Kong for Lunar New Year, sensitively addressing themes of acceptance and family bonds.
Mads Toft Hansen – Drømmehus (Dream House)
Mentre l’antica residenza di uno sceriffo norvegese viene accuratamente restaurata, la quotidianità dei suoi precedenti abitanti viene reinterpretata in chiave ludica. Tra osservazione e messa in scena, il film oscilla tra passato e presente, tra magnificenza e decadenza, esplorando una dimora che merita di essere preservata.
Mads Toft Hansen e Alma-Oline Weitling sono cineasti danesi cin un focus sulle narrazioni legate ai luoghi specifici (site-responsive) e alle peculiarità del mezzo cinematografico. Hanno studiato presso la Kabelvåg School of Moving Images in Norvegia e i loro film sono stati proiettati in festival quali il Tromsø International Film Festival e l’Arctic Moving Image & Film Festival. Hansen sta attualmente frequentando un Master in Regia presso la Film Academy di Vienna, mentre Weitling sta seguendo un MFA presso la Malmö Art Academy in Svezia.
As an old Norwegian sheriff’s residence is carefully restored, the daily routines of its former residents are playfully reimagined. Blending observation and staging, the film drifts between past and present amid grandeur and decay, exploring a house worthy of preservation.
Mads Toft Hansen and Alma-Oline Weitling are Danish filmmakers whose collaborative work explores site-responsive storytelling and medium specificity. They studied at Kabelvåg School of Moving Images in Norway, and their films have screened at festivals including Tromsø International Film Festival and Arctic Moving Image & Film Festival. Hansen is currently pursuing an MA in Directing at Film Academy Vienna, while Weitling is pursuing an MFA at Malmö Art Academy in Sweden.

The Biography of a Software è un progetto realizzato con il supporto di diversi programmi di intelligenza artificiale. L’opera trae ispirazione dall’evoluzione dell’IA – esplorandola e presentandola – e dalla sua capacità di creare (quasi) da zero, a partire da un input iniziale fornito da un utente umano. Pertanto il progetto si interroga sulle questioni sollevate da tali processi in merito all’umanità e alla sua capacità – reale o impossibile – di seguire e comprendere le proprie creature tecnologiche.
In The Biography of a Software seguiamo la storia di un individuo che cerca di recuperare la memoria perduta e di comprendere nuovamente se stesso, l’ambiente circostante e il proprio ruolo al suo interno, avvalendosi dell’aiuto del suo assistente digitale basato sull’IA.
George Drivas è nato ad Atene, in Grecia. Ha rappresentato la Grecia alla 57ª Biennale di Venezia (2017). Drivas ha ricevuto numerosi premi e riconoscimenti, tra cui il Premio della Giuria (CIFRA - Media Art Platform, 2026), la candidatura all'Eye & Film Prize (Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam, 2020) e il premio per il miglior film sperimentale al London Greek Film Festival (Londra, Regno Unito, 2010). Le sue opere sono state presentate in mostre personali presso il Museo Nazionale di Arte Contemporanea di Atene (2018 e 2009) e La Galleria Nazionale (GNAMC) di Roma (2017), oltre a essere incluse in oltre 150 mostre collettive e festival a livello internazionale.
“The Biography of a Software” is a project created with the help of various AI programs. It is inspired by, explores, and presents the evolution of AI and its ability to create (almost) from scratch, after an initial input from a human user. Accordingly, it is inspired from the corresponding questions these processes raise, regarding humanity and its possible or impossible capacity to follow and understand its own technological creatures.
In “The Biography of a Software,” we follow the story of someone trying to recover his lost memory, trying to understand himself again, his environment, and his place within it, based on the help of his digital AI-powered assistant.
George Drivas was born in Athens, Greece. He has represented Greece at the 57th Biennale di Venezia, 2017. Drivas is the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions namely a.o. Jury Award (CIFRA - Media Art Platform (2026), Nomination for the Eye & Film Prize (Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam, 2020), Best Experimental Film Award at London Greek Film Festival, London, UK (2010). His work has been featured as a solo show at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (2018 and 2009) and La Galleria Nazionale (GNAMC), Rome, Italy, (2017), and as part of a group exhibition or festival in more than 150 shows and festivals internationally.
