Le fotografie di Amelia & The Animals sono il risultato di avventure intraprese da Robin Schwartz insieme alla figlia Amelia in un vero e proprio viaggio nel mondo animale in relazione  con gli esseri umani. Il lavoro copre un arco di circa vent’anni, a partire dal 2002, quando Amelia aveva 3 anni. “Con Amelia abbiamo messo in scena le nostre fantasie ed esplorato le nostre eccentricità al fine di dar vita, in ogni fotografia, a uno spazio creativo dove gli animali non solo coesistono con gli umani, ma interagiscono anche come partner a pieno titolo”.

Robin Schwartz (1957, New Jersey, USA) ha ricevuto la Guggenheim Fellowship per la fotografia nel 2016. Le sue opere sono presenti nelle collezioni di importanti istituzioni internazionali, come il Metropolitan, il MoMA il Brokklyn Museum a New York, il Smithsonian American Art Museum a Washington, il San Francisco Museum of Art, e la Bibliothéque nationale de France a Parigi. La sua monografia Amelia & the Animals (Aperture) è stata inserita da Time Lightbox tra i migliori libri del 2014.

The photographs from “Amelia & The Animals” are the result of an adventure that Robin Schwartz took on with her daughter, Amelia. A real voyage into the animal world, where they interlace with human beings. The work was created over the course of 20 years, starting in 2003, when Amelia was 3 years old. “With Amelia we staged our fantasies and we explored our excentricities in order to give life, in each photograph, to a creative space in which the animals do not just coexist with the humans, but also interact as partners in their own right.”

Robin Schwartz (1957, New Jersey, USA) has received the Guggenheim Fellowship for Photography in 2016. Her works are included in the collections of important international institutions, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Brooklyn Museum (New York), The Smithsonian American Art Museum (Washington), the San Francisco Museum of Art (San Francisco), and the Bibliothéque nationale de France (Paris).
