EMMY'S WORLD
Emmy’s World è un progetto fotografico commovente che dice molto su temi sociali contemporanei quali le amicizie intergenerazionali, la creatività, l’arte di vivere, l’indipendenza, e la cura degli esseri amati. Un incontro casuale nel 2009 ha unito la vita della fotografa con quella della coppia di artisti molto più anziani Ben Joosten (1931-2013) ed Emmy Eerdmans (1931). Nel corso degli anni seguenti, il loro affetto reciproco si è sviluppato in un’intimità quasi familiare. Lentamente, la propria Emmy è emersa come il vero soggetto di questo progetto. Il risultato non è un fotoreportage, ma una collaborazione artistica tra loro.
Hanne van der Woude (1982, Nijmegen, Paesi Bassi) ha studiato fotografia a ArtEZ, la scuola d’arte di Arnhem, dove vive e lavora come fotografa. Dopo gli studi si è dedicata per parecchi anni a progetti indipendenti, tra cui, ad esempio, MC1R – Natural Red Hair (2005-2008) e Emmy’s World (2009-in corso).
“Emmy’s World” is a moving photographic project which has much to say on important contemporary social topics, such as intergenerational friendships, creativity, the art of living, independence, and the care of loved ones. A chance encounter in 2009 linked the life of the photographer with that of the much older artist couple Ben Joosten (1931–2013) and Emmy Eerdmans (1931). Over the next few years their mutual affection developed into an almost familial intimacy. Gradually, Emmy herself emerged as the true subject of this project.The result is not a photo reportage, but an artistic collaboration between them.
Hanne van der Woude (1982, Nijmegen, the Netherlands) studied photography at ArtEZ, the School of Arts in Arnhem, where she lives and works as a photographer. After her studies, she has devoted several years to independent projects, as, for example, MC1R – Natural Red Hair (2005-2008) and “Emmy’s World” (2009-ongoing).
