Mother raccoglie una panoramica di immagini degli ultimi sette anni realizzate in varie località australiane di madri e figli.

L’esperienza vissuta prima di avere figli mi aveva presentato una rappresentazione palesemente vuota di ciò che significa diventare madre.

La gravidanza, la nascita e la maternità sono una delle esperienze umane più profonde, più belle e più intime, ma anche alcune delle più impegnative, implacabili, impegnative e claustrofobiche dal punto di vista fisico ed emotivo.

Lisa Sorgini (Adelaide, Australia, 1981) è un’affermata artista australiana che risiede nella regione dei fiumi settentrionali del Nuovo Galles del Sud (nel territorio Bundjalung).

La sua ricerca si concentra sui ruoli legati alla cura, sulle relazioni materne e della famiglia e indaga le percezioni e i costrutti della società, in netto contrasto con l’esperienza vissuta.

“Mother” is an overview of images from the past seven years made in various locations throughout Australia of mothers and their children.

My lived experience prior to having children had presented me with an overtly hollow portrayal of what it is to become a mother.

Pregnancy, birth and motherhood is one of the most profound, deeply beautiful and intimate human experiences and yet it is also one of the most physically and emotionally challenging, relentless, demanding and claustrophobic.

Lisa Sorgini (Adelaide, Australia, 1981) is an established Australian artist residing in the northern rivers, New South Wales (Bundjalung Country).

Her practice engages with roles of care, maternal relationships and family and it investigates societal perceptions and constructs that are vastly at odds with lived experience.
