La mostra propone alcune fotografie recentemente ritrovate nell’Archivio Marubi. Il periodo in cui sono state scattate rimane incerto, ma si pensa siano state realizzate tra il 1892-1894 quando Kolë Idromeno (1860-1939), il massimo esponente del Rinascimento albanese, stava lavorando alle sue opere pittoriche. Le foto, create da questo talentuoso e peculiare artista, potrebbero rappresentare una fase preparatoria ai sui dipinti, ma, allo stesso tempo, liberandosi dalle tematiche armoniose e raffinate dei suoi quadri, rivelano contrasti, ironia e il desiderio di godere dei piaceri della vita.
Kolë Idromeno (1860-1939) discende da una famiglia Cham albanese (n.d.t.: minoranza etnica del nord della Grecia di origine albanese) che emigrò da Parga e si stabilì a Scutari.
Prende le prime lezioni di pittura nello studio di Pietro Marubbi, scoprendo anche la fotografia. All'età di 16 anni si reca a Venezia dove studia per un breve periodo all'Accademia di Belle Arti. Nel 1878, dopo questa parentesi veneziana, torna a Scutari. È considerato come il pioniere della pittura albanese per aver creato una serie di opere di grande rilevanza nella storia dell'arte in Albania, tra cui possiamo ricordare la tela “Sorella Tone”. Negli anni tra il 1884 e il 1886 apre il suo studio fotografico chiamato Driteshkronja e Koles.
This exhibitions shows some photographs recently found in the Marubi archive. The exact period photographs stem from is uncertain, but it is likely that they were produced between 1892-1894 when Kole Idromeno (1860-1939), the most representative figure of Albanian Renaissance, was working on his art projects. The photographs created by this talented and peculiar artist, might have been used as a preparatory stage for his paintings, but on the same time, the fact the images have been freed from the topics and the refined harmony of the paintings, reveals some contracts, an irony and a desire to enjoy the pleasures of life on earth.
Kolë Idromeno (1860-1939) came from a Cham Albanian family who immigrated from Parga and settled in Shkoder. He took his first lessons in the studio of Pietro Marubbi where he came to know for the first time about photography. At the age of 16, he went to Venice where he studied for a short period in the Academy of Fine Arts. After this experience, in 1878, he returned to Shkoder.
He is recognized as a pioneer of the Albanian painting by creating a range of relevant works for the history of Albanian art where we can mention “Sister Tone”. Between the years 1884-1886 he opened his photographic studio named “Driteshkronja e Koles”.
