Antoine d’Agata durante il lockdown si è completamente immerso nel processo di fotografare le strade di Parigi e i reparti degli ospedali, per dare un senso all’attuale crisi e al modo in cui sta influenzando la Francia. Le immagini del suo lavoro sul COVID-19, dominato attraverso l’uso di una camera termica, offrono una visione alternativa e distopica delle strade vuote della città di Parigi.
Antoine d’Agata (Francia, 1961), ritrovandosi a New York nel 1990, persegue il suo interesse per la fotografia frequentando corsi presso l’International Center of Photography, dove i suoi insegnanti includono Larry Clark e Nan Goldin. Nel 2004 d’Agata è entrato a far parte di Magnum Photos e nello stesso anno ha girato il suo primo cortometraggio, Le Ventre du Monde (La pancia del mondo).
Antoine d’Agata during the lockdown fully immersed himself in the process of photographing the streets of Paris and the wards in hospitals, to make sense of the current crisis, and how it is impacting France. The images of his COVID-19 documentary work, dominated by the use of a thermal imaging camera, offer an alternative, dystopian vision of the emptying streets of Paris.
Antoine d’Agata (France, 1961), finding himself in New York in 1990, he pursued an interest in photography by taking courses at the International Center of Photography, where his teachers included Larry Clark and Nan Goldin. In 2004 d’Agata joined Magnum Photos and in the same year, shot his first short film, “Le Ventre du Monde” (The World's Belly).
