A MODERN ODYSSEY

A Modern Odyssey è un progetto realizzato durante un viaggio reale, non inventato, sulla nave da trasporto Nordic Odyssey, che trasportava 70.000 tonnellate di ferro grezzo dalla città portuale russa Murmansk. Un viaggio dentro a se stessi che ci porta a riflettere, invitati da Monteleone, sul senso del viaggio e del desiderio di viaggiare. Quell’inquietudine così ben descritta da Fernando Pessoa che, dalla sua nativa Lisbona, ha raggiunto tutte le mete possibili senza mai aver fatto un viaggio.

Davide Monteleone (1974, Italia) lavora a progetti indipendenti a lungo termine usando fotografia, video e testi. Si dedica allo studio di questioni sociali, esplorando la relazione tra il Potere e gli individui. Conosciuto per il suo interesse particolare per i Paesi ex-sovietici, ha pubblicato cinque libri; Dusha, Russian Soul nel 2007, La Linea Inesistente nel 2009, Red Thistle nel 2012, Spasibo nel 2013 and The April Theses nel 2017.

A Modern Odyssey is a project made during a real, non-invented, journey on the cargo ship Nordic Odyssey, transporting 70,000 tons of iron ore from the Russian port city Murmansk. A journey inside ourselves, invited by Monteleone, which makes us reflect on the meaning of traveling and the desire to; a sense of disquiet, so well described by Fernando Pessoa, who reached all possible shores without having made a single journey.

Davide Monteleone (1974, Italy) works on long term independent project using photography video and text. He has devoted himself to the study of social issues, exploring the relation between Power and individuals. Known for his specific interest in the post-soviet countries, he published five books: Dusha, Russian Soul in 2007, La Linea Inesistente, in 2009, Red Thistle in 2012 and Spasibo in 2013, The April Theses, 2017.
