My Story is a Story of Hope è la storia umana di due comunità, una francese e l’altra di richiedenti asilo, costrette, loro malgrado, a convivere. 950 abitanti locali e 50 rifugiati vivono insieme a Saint-Martory in Francia. Questa convivenza imposta dal governo nell’estate del 2016 ha ispirato Patrick Willocq a creare questo ambizioso progetto artistico che, con un profondo significato politico, ci mostra come gli abitanti accolgono o respingono i rifugiati. Con i protagonisti come attori di se stessi, Patrick ci offre un messaggio che va oltre gli stereotipi trasmessi dai mass media.

Patrick Willocq (1969, Strasbourg) vive e lavora tra Parigi, Hong Kong e Kinshasa. Patrick ha avuto una rinascita alla mezza età. È stato un viaggio in Congo (dove era cresciuto) nel 2009 che lo ha convinto a lasciare l’attività che svolgeva da vent’anni in Asia per dedicarsi completamente alla fotografia, un impegno che dura trent’anni.

My Story is a Story of Hope is the human story of two communities, French and asylum seekers, who, due to events beyond their control, are forced to cohabitate. 950 locals and 50 refugees live together in Saint-Martory in France. This situation, enforced by the government in the summer of 2016, inspired Patrick Willocq to create an ambitious artistic project with a deep political meaning that reveals how the villagers welcome or reject refugees. With the main characters acting as themselves, Patrick offers a message that goes beyond the stereotypes spread by the media.

Patrick Willocq (1969, Strasbourg) lives and works between Paris, Hong Kong and Kinshasa.

Patrick had a midlife rebirth. It was a return trip to Congo (where he grew up) in 2009 that made him quit the professional activities he had been carrying out for twenty years in Asia, in order to devote himself fully to photography, a thirty-year commitment.
